"المركز يستأنف نشاطه من الشارع "
على إثر مداهمة مقر المركز العربي لاستقلال القضاء والمحاماة بتاريخ الخميس 29 ديسمبر من العام 2011 ، استأنف المركز بتاريخ الأحد 1يناير 2012 مزاولة نشاطه تجاه دعم وتعزيز أوضاع العدالة واستقلال القضاء والمحاماة في الدول العربية ، وذلك في مدخل العقار الكائن به مقر المركز.
وياتى هذا القرار باستئناف مزاولة المركز نشاطه الحقوقى ، في محاولة للتغلب على المعوقات التى تمثلت في الهجوم المسلح بغطاء قانونى على مقرة و مصادرة أجهزة الحاسب الآلى الخاصة بالمركز دون حكم قضائي ، وكذلك غلق المركز الى أجل غير مسمى ، دون توجيه اي اتهام الى المركز أو المسئولين عنه أو العاملين به .
وقد قرر المركز مزاولة نشاطه في الشارع ، وعدم التوقف مطلقا عن ممارسة دوره ، الذي بدأه منذ العام 1997 ، وقد تلقى المركز في يومه الأول ( في الشارع ) العديد من الشكاوى والاستشارات الحقوقية ، كان من بينها استشارات بشأن إنشاء منظمات حقوقية وجمعيات أهلية ، وقد قامت الوحدة القانونية بتقديم الاستشارات اللازمة لذوى الشأن الذين طلبوها ، كما مارست وحدة الدعم القانونى مباشرة مهامها ، في تحريك دعاوى ذات صلة بالتعذيب ، وإعداد صحف الدعاوى التى سوف يتم تحريكها أمام القضاء الوطنى المصري .
ويعلن المركز عن استمراره في مهام نشاطه في الشارع حتى يتم تسليم مقر المركز الى المسئولين عنه بشكل قانونى على غرار ما تم مع منظمات أخرى كان قد تم إغلاقها .
